San Diego Colocation - Security, Monitoring, and Support

San Diego colocation facilities typically house the most sensitive business infrastructure, demanding the strongest physical protection. Both the Lightwave and Tech Center are San Diego colocation facilities, which provide tight-knit security for server access, combined with broad-based monitoring for climate control, facility systems, customer servers, and fire. AIS’s San Diego colocation facilities’ security encompasses three areas: combined high-technology and onsite personnel to protect against unauthorized access; 24x7 monitoring of all facility, network, and customer systems; and advanced fire detection and suppression.

  • Security. Onsite personnel for both San Diego colocation centers provide 24x7 control over all access to customer servers, monitor security systems, and enforce restrictive access procedures:
    • Escorts for every visitor
    • Biometric hand scans
    • Electronic card control and code-based access systems for escort staff
    • High resolution, motion-sensitive video surveillance
    • Meet-me rooms to access servers
    • Mandatory verification for serial numbers and hardware descriptions for equipment checkouts
  • Monitoring. Both the Lightwave and Tech Center facilities (east and west San Diego colocation facilities) have comprehensive monitoring centers.
    • Manned 24-hour operation centers which monitor all fire suppression and VESDA, climate control, security, and power systems
    • Climate control monitoring for all chillers, CRAC units, critical airflows, temperature, and humidity
    • Power monitoring for individual customer monitoring for power consumption and for onsite generators and power systems
  • Fire detection. AIS’s San Diego colocation facilities have specialized preaction fire systems. The first defense uses Very Early Warning Aspirating Smoke Detection System (VESDA) in all server rooms and each CRAC air handling unit to detect microscopic airborne smoke. The suppression system has triple-interlocking dry pipes which ensure there is no water leakage and only delivers water to the affected area, so that the water damage is limited. Precision fire suppression minimizes damage to delicate servers.

Why this matters to your business...
The servers stored in our San Diego colocation facilities are extremely important to our customers, whether they’re for high-end ecommerce or small business networks. AIS’s San Diego colocation facilities implement strict security procedures, to-the-second monitoring, and the best fire control technologies. AIS’s goal is to protect data and servers from outside threats ranging from unauthorized access to fire.
